CBD for your pet

Your fur babies have an Endocannabinoid System too!

I have had alot of requests to write an article on CBD and pet health. I'm super excited about this one because I have personal experiences to share.

Our pets are our family & we would do anything to protect them and keep them healthy... It breaks our hearts when they are hurting or anxious and we are unable to comfort them... The good news? Our pets (along with all other mammals) have an
Endocannabinoid System just like us humans so they can experience the same benefits of CBD that we do! Now, that being said, there are differences in our ECS and our pets ECS. They have more receptors than we do, especially in the brain, which is why too much THC can be catastrophic for them. CBD for your pets, in my opinion, should be an absolute no brainer. It can help with anxiety, epilepsy & seizures, inflammation, focus, bone protection and overall health... truly the list goes on and on. Most of us would raise our hands when asked if we felt like these things were important to us for our pets, and many of us would do what ever we could to bring comfort and health to our pets. To some of us, our pets are absolutely a family member.

That brings me to my personal stories with my pets and how CBD has made a huge difference their lives.

Abbey

We have an adorable, anxious, hyper little ball of fur named Abbey. She is a Boxer, and anyone who has ever met a Boxer knows how challenging they can be. When we first got her and were trying to crate train her we realized that she had severe separation anxiety. Everyday we would come home to a poop covered Abbey who had covered every inch of her enclosure. Even when she was in the crate when we were home she was very anxious and upset. When she was about 6 months old was when I first discovered CBD for myself (you can read my story
here ). It was not long after that I realized that CBD was also being used by many people for their fur babies , so I jumped at the chance to bring her some relief. After her very 1st dose I noticed that she was not near as anxious. She was able to lie down with us and relax instead of pacing, she didn't get startled at every sound... we were making progress. We still had some growing pains with the typical puppy problems, but we saw light at the end of the tunnel. Today we have a very happy and healthy Abbey... We can go on long car trips without the pacing and whining, she lays down and naps on car rides now. I can bring her to the store with me and she stays in her crate in my office happily chewing on her antler and napping. We can leave her to roam the house when we are gone... no accidents, none of our things chewed or destroyed... Eureka!

Zoey

Zoey is my little Chihuahua (and by Chihuahua I mean the troll from Billy Goat Gruff). She is 13 years old & currently living with my sister in Tennessee. In December I got the call that I had been dreading for a long time. My sister called me and said she was pretty sure that Zoey had suffered a stroke or something catastrophic because she was unable to walk or even hold herself upright. She sent me a video that was heartbreaking. My Mom would try to stand her up and she would just fall over and clap her little back legs together. She looked scared and very confused. They were unable to take her to the vet to be put down that day because my sisters son was having a procedure done so I told them to give her a big dose of my Moms water soluble CBD to at least keep her calm while they did what had to be done. The next day I expected a video call from my sister so I could say goodbye, what I got was amazing. My sister sent me a video of my little Zoey prancing around like "look at me!". Even though I have done tons of research and had so many customers tell me extraordinary stories of how CBD helped their dogs, I was absolutely flabbergasted. That was over 6 months ago and she is still going strong. My sister just came to my house for a visit recently with her 2 kids, Zoey, and 3 other dogs in tow. Even though she is the smallest by far, she is absolutely the
boss and can hold her own like a champ! We call her the troll because if another dog comes near her or her things and she is not in the mood she will run out, bite, and run back in (which is why we call her the troll).

Since writing this article, we lost our old girl Zoey at 17 years old 5 years after these videos were shot.

These are just my personal stories, not to mention the countless stories I hear from my customers. I have heard countless stories from customers using CBD to stop and prevent seizures, seeing their dogs finally out of pain and acting like a dog again, stopping OCD behavior such as excessive licking & pacing, taking their pet off of harmful pharmaceuticals, and being able to enjoy the 4th of July without completely loosing it.

There is no doubt that CBD is just as good for our fur babies as it is for us!

Rustic Oils CBD Of Lee's Summit LLC Blog

We’ve all had that moment.... . During a belly rub, you feel it—a new "lump or bump" that wasn't there last week. Your heart sinks, and suddenly, nothing else matters than the health of your fur baby This is where the ancient wisdom of mushrooms like Turkey Tail and Reishi steps in. Think of them as nature’s quiet protectors. I have given them to Abbey for a couple of years but I so wish I would have started from the beginning. Turkey Tail is the "Immune Architect." It’s packed with beta-glucans that help the body’s natural defenses recognize and respond to cellular changes. It’s like giving your dog’s immune system a pair of glasses so it can see exactly where it needs to go to work. Reishi is often called the "Mushroom of Immortality," but for our pups, it’s the "Mushroom of Zen." It supports longevity, helps manage the body’s response to occasional stress, and provides much-needed relief for those pesky seasonal allergies. When we combine these in our homemade treats or as a food topper, we aren't just feeding them; we’re fighting for more "zoomies," more tail wags, and more years of companionship. Why We Trust Verdant Leaf When it comes to our pets, "good enough" isn't an option. That’s why I’ve always been uncompromising about the brands I bring into the shop. Verdant Leaf is the gold standard for clean, reliable supplements for a few very specific reasons: Purity First: Their powders are free from the fillers, grains, and "fluff" that often plague commercial pet supplements. You are getting 100% functional mushroom power. Transparent Sourcing: They prioritize high-quality extraction methods, ensuring the beneficial compounds (like those vital beta-glucans) are actually bioavailable for your dog to absorb. Tested & Trusted: Every batch is held to rigorous standards, so you can feel confident that what’s on the label is exactly what’s in the bowl. Using a clean brand like Verdant Leaf ensures that your "fur baby" is getting the support they deserve without any of the junk they don't. Here are links to Verdant Leaf Turkey Tail & Verdant Leaf Reishi Recipes you can make at home! I actually use these powders as a topper for Abbey's food or I make a mushroom broth for her to drink, but you can also create these yummy treats at home for pups that are a little pickier "Immune-Boost" No-Bake Peanut Butter Balls Best for: Quick prep and masking the earthy mushroom taste. Ingredients : 1 cup Oat flour (or blended rolled oats) 1/2 cup Natural peanut butter (ensure it is Xylitol-free) 1/4 cup Unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana. Verdant Leaf Powder: 1/4 {1/8 tsp each species, or 1/4 tsp if you are using only one species} tsp per 10 lbs of dog weight (totaled for the batch size) Instructions : Mix the mushroom powder into the peanut butter and applesauce until well-blended. Stir in the oat flour until a dough forms. Roll into bite-sized balls based on the dog's daily dosage needs. Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer. Sweet Potato & Reishi "Cookies" Best for: Dogs with sensitive stomachs or allergies. Ingredients: 1 cup Mashed cooked sweet potato 1 1/2 cups Brown rice flour (or whole wheat flour if tolerated) 1 Egg Verdant Leaf Powder: Calculate total dosage for the number of cookies (e.g., if making 20 cookies and the dog needs 1/2 tsp daily {1/4 tsp each species, or 1/2 tsp of any single species}, add 10 tsp to the batch). Instructions : Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).Mix all ingredients into a dough. Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake for 20–25 minutes until firm. Golden Mushroom Bone Broth (Liquid Topper) Best for: Older dogs who might enjoy a warm topper on their meals. Ingredients : 2 cups Low-sodium beef or chicken bone broth (onion/garlic-free) 1/2 tsp Turmeric (for extra anti-inflammatory benefits) Dash of black pepper (needed to activate anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric) 1 tsp coconut oil, beef tallow, or fish oil Verdant Leaf Powder: Whisk in 1/4 {1/8 tsp each species, or 1/4 tsp if you are using only one species} tsp per serving. Instructions : Warm the broth slightly (not boiling).Whisk in the mushroom powder and turmeric until dissolved. Pour over kibble or freeze in ice cube trays for "pupsicles."
