10 Most Common Questions About CBD

Answering the most common questions

CBD is becoming more and more main stream and with that comes even more questions from savvy consumers. I'm always very proud when my customers ask lots of questions. There are absolutely no dumb questions when it comes to purchasing anything for your health. These are the top 10 questions that I get on a daily basis.

1. What is the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?

Although both are from the same plant species called Cannabis, they are 2 very distinct plants that differ in genetics, cultivation, and chemical process. Hemp is cultivated for many things including: rope, fabric, food, CBD extracts, etc. Marijuana is cultivated to yield high levels of THC. Hemp has very low levels of THC (defined as 0.3% and under) and has no intoxicating properties, where marijuana can contain levels that exceed 20%.

2. Is CBD Legal?

President Trump made history on December 20th, 2018 making
#Hemp federally legal, and is legal in some form in all 50 states. Check with your local government regarding local rules and regulations because they can for sure be tricky.

3. What exactly is CBD and what does it stand for?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol which is most commonly known as the "therapeutic compound" with no intoxicating properties. The truth is that it is just one of the hundreds of cannabinoids in this amazing & sacred plant that act on the cannabinoid receptors in our Endocannabinoid System.

4. How are CBD extracts made?

There are many ways to extract the precious cargo of the Hemp and cannabis plants. Extracts may be obtained using solvents or non-flammable CO2 Extraction. The Hemp Dropz, Canna Hemp, and AliceCBD, and Courtney's Farm Charm Soap Company brands carried at
Rustic Oils are CO2 extracted.

5. Will I get high if I take CBD?

CBD from Hemp is non-intoxicating and will not impair the user or get them high. Hemp derived CBD contains less than 0.3% THC.

6.
Will CBD cause me to fail a drug test?
We sell many products that are THC free, and all of our other products have less than 0.3% THC. This is a very minuscule amount, however, every body is different in the way compounds are stored and eliminated. The safest thing to do is to either ask your employer/Dr. or purchase products with zero THC.

7. What is the difference in isolate, broad spectrum, & full spectrum?

CBD isolate is 99% pure CBD, broad spectrum contains CBD and other cannabinoids without the THC, and full spectrum is full plant extract with all cannabinoids found in that plant.

8. How do I know what I'm getting?

This is probably the most important question that I answer. You must protect yourself, ask questions, ask to see lab reports. Any company producing a quality product will
always have lab reports to back up their products. In these reports you can find things such as: CBD %, THC %, residual solvent content, heavy metals, etc. There are many products out there that have been tested privately revealing low levels to no CBD, higher than legal amounts of THC and all sorts of nasty things you do not want in your body. As with any thing else in life, you get what you pay for. You are taking CBD for the health of your body, make sure it has nothing in it that will harm you and don't make a decision on CBD because it's cheap.

9. Does CBD have side effects?

Hemp and CBD are recognized as being safe and should not produce side effects in most people, however you should always check with your doctor before adding anything to your daily routine.

10. How is CBD taken?

There are many ways to take CBD and methods that work for some better than others.

  • CBD Oil Tinctures: taken under the tongue and held for several minutes for max absorption.
  • Water Soluble CBD: Our bodies are comprised of mostly water and anything we put in our bodies that is not water soluble will not absorb as efficiently.
  • CBD Paste: Highly concentrated full extract paste can be used orally as well as topically and is fast acting,
  • Edibles: My favorite is the gummy, swallowing it mostly whole allows the cannabinoids to absorb like a time release as the gummy digests.
  • Creams and Salves: Helping with symptoms of pain & skin conditions when applied topically. Hemp Dropz pain cream is wildly popular and my personal favorite for putting where it hurts.
  • CBD Vape: Vapable CBD is used by many for anxiety and is the fastest absorbing method although not the longest acting.
  • Bath & Body products: Your skin is the largest living organ on your body. Use a CBD bath bombs, soaps, and lotions to relax sore muscles, reduce inflammation, and decrease pain.
  • CBD Pet Products: CBD oils, roll ons, and treats for pets to help with everything from seizures to separation anxiety.

I welcome any and all questions and will spend as much time as you need. Please stop in or call me any time, I look forward to meeting you! :-)

* Important Note: CBD works on a bell curve. Start low and slow and increase your dose until you find your sweet spot and then stay consistent.

Rustic Oils CBD Of Lee's Summit LLC Blog

By Rachel Crawford January 28, 2026
We’ve all had that moment.... . During a belly rub, you feel it—a new "lump or bump" that wasn't there last week. Your heart sinks, and suddenly, nothing else matters than the health of your fur baby This is where the ancient wisdom of mushrooms like Turkey Tail and Reishi steps in. Think of them as nature’s quiet protectors. I have given them to Abbey for a couple of years but I so wish I would have started from the beginning. Turkey Tail is the "Immune Architect." It’s packed with beta-glucans that help the body’s natural defenses recognize and respond to cellular changes. It’s like giving your dog’s immune system a pair of glasses so it can see exactly where it needs to go to work. Reishi is often called the "Mushroom of Immortality," but for our pups, it’s the "Mushroom of Zen." It supports longevity, helps manage the body’s response to occasional stress, and provides much-needed relief for those pesky seasonal allergies. When we combine these in our homemade treats or as a food topper, we aren't just feeding them; we’re fighting for more "zoomies," more tail wags, and more years of companionship. Why We Trust Verdant Leaf When it comes to our pets, "good enough" isn't an option. That’s why I’ve always been uncompromising about the brands I bring into the shop. Verdant Leaf is the gold standard for clean, reliable supplements for a few very specific reasons: Purity First: Their powders are free from the fillers, grains, and "fluff" that often plague commercial pet supplements. You are getting 100% functional mushroom power. Transparent Sourcing: They prioritize high-quality extraction methods, ensuring the beneficial compounds (like those vital beta-glucans) are actually bioavailable for your dog to absorb. Tested & Trusted: Every batch is held to rigorous standards, so you can feel confident that what’s on the label is exactly what’s in the bowl. Using a clean brand like Verdant Leaf ensures that your "fur baby" is getting the support they deserve without any of the junk they don't. Here are links to Verdant Leaf Turkey Tail & Verdant Leaf Reishi Recipes you can make at home! I actually use these powders as a topper for Abbey's food or I make a mushroom broth for her to drink, but you can also create these yummy treats at home for pups that are a little pickier "Immune-Boost" No-Bake Peanut Butter Balls Best for: Quick prep and masking the earthy mushroom taste. Verdant Leaf Powder: 1/4 {1/8 tsp each species, or 1/4 tsp if you are using only one species} tsp per 10 lbs of dog weight (totaled for the batch size) Instructions : Mix the mushroom powder into the peanut butter and applesauce until well-blended. Stir in the oat flour until a dough forms. Roll into bite-sized balls based on the dog's daily dosage needs. Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer. Sweet Potato & Reishi "Cookies" Best for: Dogs with sensitive stomachs or allergies. Ingredients: 1 cup Mashed cooked sweet potato 1 1/2 cups Brown rice flour (or whole wheat flour if tolerated) 1 Egg Verdant Leaf Powder: Calculate total dosage for the number of cookies (e.g., if making 20 cookies and the dog needs 1/2 tsp daily {1/4 tsp each species, or 1/2 tsp of any single species}, add 10 tsp to the batch). Instructions : Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).Mix all ingredients into a dough. Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake for 20–25 minutes until firm. Golden Mushroom Bone Broth (Liquid Topper) Best for: Older dogs who might enjoy a warm topper on their meals. Ingredients : 2 cups Low-sodium beef or chicken bone broth (onion/garlic-free) 1/2 tsp Turmeric (for extra anti-inflammatory benefits) Dash of black pepper (needed to activate anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric) 1 tsp coconut oil, beef tallow, or fish oil Verdant Leaf Powder: Whisk in 1/4 {1/8 tsp each species, or 1/4 tsp if you are using only one species} tsp per serving. Instructions : Warm the broth slightly (not boiling).Whisk in the mushroom powder and turmeric until dissolved. Pour over kibble or freeze in ice cube trays for "pupsicles."
